A vs A-

So my friend's public school doesn't give A-'s on report cards. 90-100 is A, 80-89 is B, etc. My private school give A's for 93-100, A- for 90-92, B+ for 87-89, B for 83-86, etc.

I don't think this is fair because a student with straight 90's at the public school would get a 4.0. You couldn't tell this student from the student at the same school with staight 100's. At the private school a kid with straight 90's would get a 3.7. Do you think this is fair? Do colleges compensate for the lack of -'s and +'s?

Don’t colleges look at one’s rank too?

Private schools will be judged as having a harder course load in college eyes.

They are proportional.

Your school sends them a school profile. On this school profile, is your school’s grading school. Believe it or not, they actually look at it. Your grading scale will not hurt you; what matters the most is rank anyway. If your school does not rank, I’m sure your school has some way of measuring you up compared to your peers.

What the hell, my school 91 and below is a B.

I don’t think it is fair, but if I went there I would think the opposite.
