A Website and Video about IU

whysee, how are you liking Kelley? Are you screwed if you are not a direct admit?

Has Kelley helped you with internships? Have you looked at the career center?

Do you like IU and Bloomington?

? whysee, you turned down Stern over Kelley's?

dstark : whats ur view on that

Let me post a correction here:

In my message above, I listed NYU twice, listed Virginia (which is not in the top 6 finance schools--it is #12) and left out Texas and UC Berkeley, both of which are in the top 6.

Also, I checked, and it turns out that Illinois has moved up to #11 in Finance. Purdue is not listed in the top 25 in Finance, but they are in the top 5 in operations/decision sciences.

It should be noted that Indiana (Kelley school) did send 27% of their Finance graduates on to I-banking jobs, which is a very high number--and far higher than the Finance schools at Illinois or Purdue. They still trail Wharton (Univ of Penn), Michigan, NYU and Virginia, though.

"? whysee, you turned down Stern over Kelley's?
dstark: whats ur view on that"

It depends on the person.

My view is you should choose the school you like best and where you will succeed.

If you are so sure you want to live and work in NY and go into IB, I might choose Stern because of its location. But then you don't get the college campus life. It's a tough call.

I would probably choose Michigan or Berkeley if I felt I could get into the business school at either school. :)

Really, it's a personal choice. I don't know what I would do in a similar situation. I don't know enough about either school. Why do you think I am on here asking questions.:)

Calcruzer, good point noted .. and also they have the I-banking workshop am i right?

anyway my uiuc results only comes out in 1MAR .. so if i dont get in, prolly i have to settle in kelley's~

dstark: which uni accepted you already?

kahlen, my son is in at IU and Ohio State.

It's not like you're turning down Michigan, Cornell, or Berkeley for Indiana. You're turning down Illinois, which would essentially have the same employers that Kelley has. The overall reputation is the same, the people who recruit at each school is the same. Illinois has a peer assessment of 4.0, Indiana has one of 3.8, a small difference. They're both Big Ten schools, and both seen as good schools.

Personally, I turned down Wisconsin to come here and have absolutely no regrets. Indiana has so many advantages to it's business school. Probably the biggest being the direct admission - you don't have to worry your first few semesters about keeping your grades up. If you have the choice between IU and Wisconsin, you're also probably getting a 7K scholarship at IU, saving in the long run nearly 30K, and getting a degree that has essentially the same prestige (for business).

dstark : your son's in kelley's?

A2Wolves6 : what major are you in?

Kahlen,

Yes, they still have the Investment Banking Workshop.
