So, I have decided to attend iu for sure now. I was bored this weekend and created a website/blog about IU and admissions. I put alot of useful links all on the page. I also posted a comment and link to a video about IU. So check it out and tell me what you think!

well, i dont think the video lies but it is an advertisment. I assume the target audience are rich future frat kids, because the video is all about the alcohol and parties!

IU has an alright rep, but the Kelley School of Business, the school I'm going to, is incredible. It is cosistantly ranked in the top ten, especially for finance, my ***** ass major.

You'll see that Kelley was ranked 10th by Business Week (it ties with Cornell for #10-11 in USNW).

On the site above, you'll see that recruiters ranked Indiana #5. So, yes, recruiters do know about the Kelley Business School.

P.S. Kelley ranks #1 for best professors in the country at the graduate business school level according to the Princeton Review and the Wall Street Journal. (Stanford was #2, Harvard #9). That statistic kind of says it all. Some well-known MBA alumni include John Chambers (CEO of Cisco) and Mark Cuban (owner of the Dallas Mavericks NBA basketball team). Cuban also went to the school at the undergraduate level.

My mistake. Indiana tied for #11-12 with Cornell this year--not #10-11.
Not a big difference--but just thought I'd try to get the facts correct.

Calcruzer : yeah, kelley's great .. but it seems on the overall, IU doesn't seem to be as 'popular' or 'heard of' as compared to maybe .. Purdue or UIUC?

i'm just contemplating over whether to go for schools like purdue/uiuc or indiana .. i want to study finance. and i love kelley's school of biz.

but overall reputation for IUB isnt that well compared to the rest. ~

Have you been to West Lafayette, Indiana or the Champaign/Urbana area of Illinois? If you go there, and then go to Bloomington, you'll understand why so many students choose Indiana Univ over Purdue or the University of Illinois.

Also, Indiana University is beautiful--ranked #1 for beauty in the midwest (only others close would be Wisconsin and Washington University in St. Louis--and maybe Northwestern).

Lastly, you should know that Indiana's finance department was ranked #7 in the country per USNW. #1 through #6 were (not in order) Wharton (Univ of Penn), Virginia, NYU, Michigan, NYU, and MIT. That's a pretty good group of schools to be competing against. Illinois has a good accounting department, but it was not ranked in the top 15 in finance. Purdue has a good operations/decision sciences department, but once again--their finance department was also not ranked in the top 15. This is why many finance students pick IU-Bloomington.

Still, every student knows what will work best for them. Good luck to you no matter what college you choose.

Kahlen if you are going into business I really would not suggest Purdue over IU. Purdue is a good school and especially in the engineering field but it does not compare to IU in the way of business in my opinion.

I think you may just be worried about the prestige of the name. Of course you are not going to see that amazed look on people's face when you tell them that you plan on attending Iu, that you may receive if you attend an Ivy. True, but know this Iu is great in a number of departments, and the people in the know, know about Iu. I have received acceptance into the Stern business school at NYU, and chose Kelley over it. I also was admitted to vassar which has a 3-2 program which guarantees admission into Columbia or Darthmouth. Name is nothing!
