The rats on the red line are really cute though.

I think they're cute too! Since they are down on the tracks and never seem to come to the platform, you don't have to worry about touching one by accident. You can just watch them going about their little rodent business. They're pretty good company if you're waiting for the train alone.

You pay for room and board and what does that give you in terms of food?

Do you get some lunch card and you have a buffet for the rest of the year OR is it like for only three times a day? How do they serve the food options to you?

For such a RICH and renowned place how could the food lack in any way??<<

In his welcoming remarks on the day my daughter enrolled, Dean Kirby put it this way (paraphrasing): Back in 1636 when Harvard was founded it had a handful of students and one professor. The wife of the professor was in charge of providing the the food service. There were many complaints about the food service back in that first year, SOME of which have since been resolved.

They prepare for the whole freshman class at Annenberg, I guess that takes something away from it. I believe most of the upperclassman housing has nice dining halls.

They swipe your ID (I think?) when you get in and then you get food buffet style. The dining hall does have closing hours, but some dining halls also have late night "brain snacks" (I think that's what they're called), like ice cream and other goodies, for those who stay up late. I don't think they have brain snacks at Annenberg.

apfreak, it's only open at mealtimes. But if you wanted to eat one lunch at Leverett from 12-1, and a second at Mather from 1-2, you can do that.

Some houses have snacks (juice machines, bagels, whatever) available all the time. Depends on the house.

i know at annenberg they're strict about swiping your card, but at dunster you only have to if there's a person sitting there at the machine. otherwise i don't think they really care.
and yes, there are "brain breaks" as well.

Hahaha GuitarManARS thats exactly what I'm thinking right now. Although after eating at annenberg for a summer I doubt the curry would be that tasty.

Whats this about rats?

Over the summer they didn't have brain snacks in the annenberg cafateria but they had them in the lower level. You could go in and hang out at the tables and someone brought down the food and put it in the piano room for everyone. But most of the time it was only juice and bagles sometimes muffins and doughnuts and always coffee.

Can you believe that while at Harvard I met a kid who told me he was going to base his college decision on whether the food was good or not? He said Harvard was most likely off his list. I didn't believe him but he started naming schools that had good food and thats just crazy.
