A Word To OOS Applicants (And Anybode Else Who Is Interested)

Well, you guys now are in the same boat I was in last year. And one hell of a boat it is. First of all, I would like to congratulate you in your successes in high school because i know for a fact that you have all done an amazing job in high school to even consider cal. i remember last year as i combed this forum for admissions chances, statistics, anything to raise my hopes of getting in. it is therefore my aim to provide reading material here at cc for all high school senior out of staters hoping to apply, whether they are seriously considering cal, or whether it is school that they have little interest in but still applied. As for instaters, feel free to read along :)

So the usual concern with oos applicants are the big two: GPA and SAT. well i am here to tell you that although your scores and GPA need to be higher than the average instate applicant at cal, they don't need to be over the roof scrotum clenching scores everyone talks about. take me for example, i got a 2060 (scored a low 690 on writing) total, and i am here at cal. so it is possible to be a competitive applicant with lower SAT scores than usual for oos. however, something to compensate for a lower score would do wonders for your application (whether it is high SAT II scores or a visible pursuit of AP, IB, or community college courses). now to state the obvious, numbers don't tell the admissions officers anything about
