A word to the wise

Your applications are in. Now all there is to do is wait...in the coming months you'll hear a lot about 'your chances' of admission and 'back up plans' and 'your realistic options'... I urge you to think a little differently.

As Will Smith once said, "Being realistic is the most commonly travelled rode to mediocrity." So, if your first choice of college seems a little out of your league, all you need to do is believe in the possibility of your admission to it and worry less about the forever fretted over 'realism.' Let yourself dream a little bigger and a little wilder. If you truly believe you'll be accepted, amazing things will happen for you.

Just thought you all needed a little word of inspiration after a harrowing few days of deadline stress.

Thanks for this. I’m pretty sure most of us know this deep down, but its good to just see it spelled out once in a while. It gets a little depressing sometimes looking at the stats of different people and seeing who gets accepted and rejected. As you said, its important to not give up hope.

I agree! Retain hope, keep believing and just KNOW that you are going to succeed. Good luck, future college friends!

knsqld, hella funny that you quoted Will Smith!

haha, how can anyone disagree with wisdom of Will Smith? ;)
