As a rising second year at the University of Virginia, I can't help but come back to CC and read all these what are my chances threads. I remember posting on these threads as I was applying to schools. I can't tell you what reading all the feedback did for me, but perhaps it made me more confident or sometimes more nervous. Eitherway, I understand where each of you are and how you are all feeling.

I felt compelled to leave you with some words of advice as you search for the right schools. Despite what you may hear here, or with your guidance counselors, aim high. Apply to AT LEAST ONE of your dream schools. I dont care if you are a 3.0 GPA student in the 2nd decile of your class and you want to go to Harvard...apply there. Be sure to have your safeties and your matches but make sure to have at least one school that you feel is useless to apply to because you dont think you will get in. My experience has shown me that you just never know.

I never would have thought I was going to get into UVA even though it was my dream school. My father forced me to send in my application and was upset to hear that I wasnt going to apply because it seemed pointless. On March 29, 2006, I recieved my acceptance to the University of Virginia, my very last admissions letter. I immediately sent in my deposit and since then I could not be happier.

Bottom line...you just never know guys. Dont ever be discouraged by what you hear or what you read. All you need is the support of one admissions counselor who will back you during their meeting and you are in. If you don't get in you move on, if you do, then you are set! Just think the worst possible situation is one you already accepted, however the best is one which can be a dream come true.

Good luck to you all! Reach for the stars (as cliche as that is...its true!!)
