Good luck to all of those taking the A-100 final this weekend. Too bad it's on homecoming weekend, but I'm sure it will be a relief to have it done with.

I can’t wait to be done studying for this! Accounting final and K204 practical exam on the same day…not fun.

Just curious what the deal is with the exam times for this class? My son took it and told me that the midterm was late at night (started at 9 or 10pm?) and the final was on Sunday. Can’t they find normal days and normal hours to give the exams? Or is this by student choice? Guess I need to ask my son but just wondering!

It’s tough finding exam times that don’t conflict with class for students. The last class of the day at IU for undergrads ends at 9:45pm.

momtn–knowing a bit about what times IU schedules full semester (the vast majority) classes and keeping in mind this is an 8 week course helps explain the timing of midterms and the Sunday final. First, Kelley wants all students taking the exam at the same time, BUT these students still have full semester classes to attend, and Kelley doesn’t want students to miss a regular class for an exam. (I can guarantee that many profs in other parts of the university would not be pleased to have students missing a class for an exam in another class.) Most classes are over by 9:00. Scheduling it after that time will permit A100 students to take the exam without missing classes. Since classes don’t meet on Sunday, this is also a good time to schedule it. At the end of the semester it’s less of an issue for the final I suspect.

max and I posted at the same time.

There are a lot of classes that freshmen and sophomores take that require mass mid-terms, literally 1000-2000 people taking the exact same test at the exact same time. And the times for the mid-terms can’t conflict because so many people take more than one of these classes and at different times during the week each semester. So they have the mid-terms for these classes on weekends and stagger the times so they won’t conflict with regular class meeting times and with each other. Classes like A100, finite math m118, calculus m119, K201/K104, X201/X202, G202, and the sophomore accounting classes.
