apparently....the grant is only granting me like 150 dollars....even though my parents together make just over 100k. Through loans I can get like 36k. I am really interested in attending but I need a way to get more money. Is there any way I could bargain with Berkeley...and by bargain I mean ask for more "free" money?

-_- what do you need 36k for? it's only 25k a year, is it not?

Did you apply for the alumni scholarships? emails came out today about finalist...

It's harder to bargain b/c of the fact that it's a UC and the damned budget cuts are coming. =( sorry.

i am out of state so the grand total amounts to like 43k.....yeah i didnt get the alumni scholarship

are u kidding me???? ur parents make just over 100k and ur complaining... my parents make 25k for 5 ppl and im not complaining.... my advice is just to apply for scholarships

sorry nancy just that ive always wanted to go to a school in cali and this whole process has been nerve racking...yeah i know im not the only one

Your best bet is an Alumni Scholarship. Look into that. Although the deadline may have passed for newly admitted students already.

The deadline passed in like february.

And the alumni scholarship is more about the prestige/networking than the money.

The "free" money at the University of California system comes, for the most part (not including federal grants, loans and scholarships), from the taxpayers (like me) of California. The taxpayers of California expect the UC system to use our money towards the education of the children of the taxpayers of California. For free money from a state school, you should look into the schools in your state.
