AAP Freshman Summer Program

Advantages/disadvantages? Should I attend?

You get like 10-15 credits out of the way. You get to adjust to the UCLA environment at a more fluid rate, instead of showing up and panic. Um, oh. I remember from the Black weekend thing, they talked a lot about how the feople who attend FSP get to start the first day of school knowing where everything is and they all have really good friends before school starts. As oppossed to non-FSPers who are thrown into this new world without any idea of what to do / who to talk to idea. Um, they say you get to move in first but I read in the packet that the dorms you stay in for FSP are not the dorms you'll have for Fall so you'll have to move anyway once school starts.

Honestly, I would do it but I'd rather take classes up here for summer quarter since I want to keep my job a bit longer. I just need to call and make sure that's okay. I'm not quite ready to leave home, I'd rather wait til Sept. to go. But otherwise, if I had nothing waiting here for me, I would have done it. Also, I didn't like the fact you had to choose either a science intensive or writing intensive. I would have liked to study something else.

That was helpful, thanks! I've had some people question me.. "It's the last summer before college.. yadda yadda"

Seems that there's nothing to lose besides 7 weeks of your summer. :)

Everyone I know who've taken FSP loved it! Sure, it's the last summer before college, but for me, having nearly 3 months of nothing to do bores the heck out of me. I reaffirm what KirbyDee said about FSP. While it's true that you could do your 10-15 credits at a local CC, you get UC GPA credit for classes taken during FSP. More importantly, you gain a network of great friends that you will have when you come in for your first day at UCLA.

Well yeah it's the last summer. But FSP doesn't start til July 30th anyway so you have a little over a month to do stuff anyway ^__^

Okay So I have a question:
If I signed up for the writing intensive session of FSP,and I passed the AP English test last year with a 3.. and I may pass this year with a 3-4.. is there any purpose in taking the composition class during FSP? Isn't that the requirement that passing the AP test fulfills? Sorry if my question is confusing.. but if anyone knows PLEASE helpp me out. I'm unsure of whether I should go or not and I need to sign up for orientation ASAP. =/

Thanks Jinobi and KD :)

I can't wait!

To console those who can't attend: This advertisement is just an exaggeration and you can easily adjust in just the 3 days you have for orientation and create a ton of friends during orientation- they say this to try and sell their program to people

To those who can attend: Eh, why not? There doesn't seem to be anything to lose unless you actually had some summer plan going
