AB vs BC

I'm currently taking Calc AB, and am on track to take BC next year; so is there any point in taking the AP test this year?

One thing to consider is to just go ahead and try to learn the BC material this year. It’s really not that bad, honestly. I am in Calc AB this year (hardest math class my school offers) and am studying the BC material. I have actually already finished both the AB and BC material and can just now review for the next few months with my review book (I have the Princeton Review) and the AB homework assigned in my Calc class. If you are good at math, then you can easily learn everything in a month or so.

If you are uncomfortable with this, I would still recommend taking the AP test this year as it is good practice. Unless money or some other factor is an impeding issue, then I would strongly consider it.

What year are you in school? I suppose if I took the BC exam, I could take linear algebra next year, but I haven’t considered it. That’s actually an awesome idea if I could find the time to study. I was looking at buying a PR AB/BC Review book anyhow. When’d you start studying?

I’m a senior, and I started in the middle of January I think. Any free time I had I started just going through the book (I started at the Integral chapter because that’s where my class was) and finished it in about a month. Since I got ahead, I also stopped paying attention to my teacher and just started doing the homework assigned in class when he taught. That way, I could spend the extra time learning the BC material. If your teacher is cool like that (he doesn’t care if we sleep in his class-he sees it as a college class), then that’s not a bad way to go either! Probably also good for your grade: I currently have a 100% in that class.
