Abbreviation Thread

Really? Well, that was embarrassing…thanks for clearing it up.

Haha dentmon4, the inexactness of our language has great potential for misinterpretation, doesn’t it? :P

what does STEM mean?

STEM: science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

OOOH thank you! lol

Let’s add DE for dual enrollment

I just found this thread and hope to give you all a chuckle. A post card arrived in the summer for one of those multi-college admissions nights. It had in large letters: BROWNMITYALE My husband (should I say DH) thought it was odd that D received a post card ad for a beer called “Brown Mity Ale”.

That may have been after he’d had a beer or two LOL.

Love the screenname OhmyDD95 :)

Of course my eye immediately parsed those seemingly meaningless letters into what htey are, because I live on CC :D

Very funny, OHmy. Would someone tell me what HMFR stands for? I searched this thread for it with no luck. The Parents of 2017 seem very concerned with HMFR schools – to me, it looks like an abbreviation for something folks from my alma mater might shout at a Harvard football game.

HMFR came from the 3.0-3.3 parent thread. Huge Mother F#*!&ing Reach

Thanks. My guess was much closer than I thought. Much appreciated. :)

Actually, Waker coined the HMFR on the 2013/2017 thread :D.

CBB = Colby, Bates, Bowdoin.

HLOS ( Husband looking over shoulder ) In my case with all these abbreviations he has no used what we are talking about!!! :D

What do DD and DS mean? I know what D, S, DX, SX (where X is the birth order) mean in the context of family trees, though.

Dear or darling daughter/son.

Let’s add NHS - National Honor Society

HPME - Honors Program in Medical Education (Northwestern BA/BS - MD program)

OTC - Over the counter

This thread is for college-related abbreviations. ;)
