ABET accredidation?

How can this be? Rice is supposed to have a very strong engineering department; how can 4 of its 8 engineering programs NOT be ABET accredited? Am I missing something here?

Bioengineering is top ten both undergrad and grad, so not being ABET accredited may have more to do with the constrictive course requirements for being accredited than with quality of program. This would be a great thing to ask the BioE department about, then report back to us!!! P.S. Harvard only has one ABET program. And CalTECH only has 3

i dont think you can get a ABET accredited program in BioE… you cannot be a Professional Engineer (PE) as a BioE either

The Material Science and Environmental Engineering majors are smaller and starting to grow
