Able to Change Majors?

I was accepted for Biomed Engineering, but I would like to change my major to Computer Science. How would I go about changing my major before attending? Thanks for helping!

P.S.: How are the Comp Science classes? I'm asking cause I have 0 experience in programming and stuff. I'm just sorta good with electronics and troubleshooting things =/

Just go log into your account <a href="http://www.admissions.uci.edu/notification.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.admissions.uci.edu/notification.html</a> and go to the message center and then click on change my major. I did that requesting to change from bio to neurobiology, but they said that it would only be open to me after a few quarters at UCI.

wow thanks a lot for that! i never had any messages so i never checked there haha. so if i don't get approved for a major change, would i still be able to change to comp science without taking biomed classes? Like, would i be able to get my GEs out of the way first, then transfer majors? thanks =)

my friend changed her major in one day, they approved it the next day she sent the request..
i think if it is not an impacted major(she changed it to business-econ), they can change it asap.
i don't know about computer science tho..

i think comp sci is impacted so it may take a while...

comp sci can NOT be impacted. the number of students in the bren school of ics was very small to begin with, and to be generous, I think about 1/4 of the freshman switched their majors from something cs related to something else. the program is reaally hard for beginners, you'll have to work hard. not trying to scare you or anything, just saying its not going to be easy. over the summer try to get some programming experience, specifically java. it will help you soooo much. taking cs in high school made this year so much easier for me. i would recommend going in undeclared and taking an ics class or two, just to see if this is really what you want to do. if your good w/ electronics and things like that, maybe think about EE? though there's some programming involved (C programming in EECS), EE/CE/CSE are geared more towards hardware rather than software.

Compsci should be impacted. Even if there are few students, programs don't want to waste time and money on students who are just going to drop out so they raise the bars higher. However, because you're already in biomedical engineering, the switch should be allowed.

I was thinking of changing my major from physics --> bio and called the office for more info. Since I already submitted my SIRS she said I have to change it through the bio offices. I called them and they said that they allow you to change majors at SPOP (summer orientation) when you register.
