Abnormal summer weather

Here in Seattle it's way hotter than normal. I've heard that the jet stream pattern is really off this summer. Is anyone else having weird weather? What's causing it?

Lol, for practically all of June, it rained daily in NJ. Then there was a freaking hailstorm, something NJ doesn’t usually get. The temperatures been colder than usual, too.

i wish global warming would just cook our planet already…

I don’t see why “weird weather” is considered “weird.” It happens all the time. The averages for weather almost never happen. Since so many factors can affect the weather across the country, weird weather is commonplace. Even a minor change in the jet stream can throw everything into extreme territory.

My SIL has been complaining about the virtually non-existent summer in Chicago, especially as they must endure many months of winter. When we visited the east coast for college shopping, all I heard from natives was how wet the month of June was (and it didn’t seem to be getting better in early July.)

I live in Toronto, and we haven’t been seeing our usual, smoggy 35C/95F July weather. It’s been cooler and rainier.

I think the strangest weather I’ve ever seen was back in Plattsburgh. Some days, it would heavily snowing outside and not cold - you could go outside in just a t-shirt and jeans. It was weirdest thing.

I’ll agree with the coldness. My parents have only had the AC on for a few days this summer. I sort of wish it would just get really hot. I wore long sleeves yesterday, and I hate having to do that in mid-July.

yeah we usually get heat waves etc during the summer, but this summer the highest temp has been 88 which is pretty low. I feel for some reason this year was a lot cooler than most. We even had this snow storm this winter that was almost unprecedented before in our area.

We had a tornado last Sunday. We just finished cleaning up the fallen trees yesterday. :(

That thunderstorm was worse than any hurricane we’ve ever had, and it only lasted 20 minutes.

…I don’t think we’ve ever had a tornado in my neighborhood before this. .__.

Yeah I live in Chicago and it has been abnormally cool. But I’m pretty sure this is supposed to be an El Nino year so maybe that has something to do with it?

I looked at the weather for Chicago and it does look quite cool, as in the mid-upper 70’s. In Seattle it’s usually in the mid-70’s, but we’re expected highs to be in the mid-upper 80’s throughout next week and even low-mid 90’s the week after. Usually the marine air keeps Seattle relatively cool but the air pattern doesn’t seem to be changing. I kind of wish I were living in Chicago right now–I hate hot weather.

This will probably all reverse itself in a few weeks.

Upstate NY has been crazy with the rain and what not. yeah we actually got a hail storm too the other day… the rain though, it comes down so hard and fast it’s unbelieveable
