<p>whats to stop students from using another student's essay? for example, i have an older brother who went to Northwestern 3 years ago and another that went to Carnegie Mellon. what if I am to use their essay? i mean, i know its morally wrong but would skools (other than CMU and NW) have any idea of knowing that i used another person's essay? also there are all these college essays available on-line....... is there any way the colleges would know if u used one from the internet?</p>
<p>Do not use someone else's essay or get one off the internet. You will always run the chance that the college will find out - and if they do, you might get expelled. Why would you want to anyway? Wouldn't you want to know you got admitted to a college based on your own merits?</p>
<p>At my D's high school, a lot of the teachers google certain phrases from kids' essays or reports - if they find a match on the internet and it looks like there was plagiarism, they kid gets a big, fat "0".</p>
<p>chances of getting caught are quite low
but why take chance
you can take some tips from those essays and make your own
this way there will be no risk at all</p>
<p>even if they find out after you graduate from college, I am pretty sure they can rescind your diploma you paid so much $$ for. You'll always be wondering "what if?"</p>
