Using someone else's essay

<p>Do you think that adcoms would be able to catch someone who used, say, their older cousin's essay?</p>

<p>Yeah, that sounds like a really bad idea. The chances of getting caught are probably pretty small, but if you are caught... Yeah, automatic rejection. So not worth the risk.</p>

<p>well my friend actually did that and he got into a few schools, it just depends on if you want to risk it</p>

<p>You risk getting into a school that requires better writing than you can produce.</p>

<p>Just out of curiosity, if you're doing an electronic submission, do they run it through a program like TurnItIn that catches stuff like that?</p>

<p>Also, if you ARE caught, would the college inform other colleges, resulting in rejections across the board (even if you use someone else's to apply to just ONE college)?</p>

<p>I won't do this of course...but er, just out of curiosity.</p>

<p>Amen to vossron's comment. What if you get in and you're not qualified? Then what? There's so much focus to GETTING IN to certain colleges, but doing well is important if you want that degree on your resume.</p>
