hello, everyone,I am from china. I want to know something about the Community college. Is It easy to enter to an university after 2 years?what about the credict? all the score is A? Help me,thanks``-_#

yes, if you have a perfect JC GPA it'll be good. You should come to California to come to community college, because the UCs (including Berkeley) are legally constrained (i.e. they have to) accept a certain amount of people from California community colleges. Lots of them actually feed into UCs, even UCLA and UCB. Since most of the fresh/soph classes are General Education ones, credit will transfer. Go to JC in Cali. I know a bunch of people in JC who had no chance to go to Berkeley in high school but got in from JC with MEDIOCRE grades.

thank you,ebonytear.
1.Your suggestion seems very good. but I want to live in Texas. There is a community college attached to TAMU.
2.What is the "JC" stand for in your message?
3.I am an international student,I have been in chinese university two years to study. Is it the situation bad for me as an old age applycantion? Then I am worried about my visa .bacause it is very difficult to pass with
the community college offer.

by Emily

just as ebonytear stated, California would probably be better becasue the california universities (UC Berkeley, UCLA) would be more recognized in your home country than TAMU because ultimately you'll have to move back home and you'd have the best job prospects from the california schools.

Emily, you cannot make generalities about community colleges anymore than you can about the 4 year schools. Some communty colleges have programs that are selective for entry, some get good results for their good students transferring to 4 year schools, some even have connections to some universities. So you really should not just pick a community college out of the blue. If you are interested in certain subjects, you need to see if the facilities and courses are available at the college.

To young_one:I think so,Califonia have better school than Texas, such as UC berkeley,USC. But I am worried about my GPA here, because the standard of study and exams in china is different. on the other hand, the tuition in Califonia school is more expensive than Texas, so I need apply to FA or scholarship. This is very difficult and competent.
To jamimom:You said that some programs might be for the local student ,AS to an international student, this is very hard. But thank you all the same.

1.i'm sure it feeds to TAMU with the same logic. but as young_one said, UCLA and UCB have better reps internationally than TAMU - i think GPA at any community college should be fine. China is much more intense than any American community college.
2. JC = junior college = community college. Sorry, :)
3. ohh..that is bad. When would you transfer? because then it's a lot harder because you are actually taking major classes, not just general education classes. Maybe you should take freshman/sophmore college years all over again (will be very easy) and then go to a really good college? Maybe even Stanford. My dad did that. He did come for graduate school at some random San Francisco low level university, but then transferred into Stanford for a Masters. That'd be the route I take, because otherwise it'd be very hard to transfer to a respectable school.

Thank you ,ebonytear. your dad had got the Bachelor degree in San Francisco low level university? then transferred seemed easy . but I am a sophmore ,some one think that I will waste a lot time and money if I take the fre/soph college all over again,my father hope I can finished my undergraduated courses in china then go to usa for a master degree.but I think my major play a very important role in work experince, so I want to get a job after I have Bachelor degree. In my family, nobody surport to me to study abroad. but I have my faith to success.
