let's just say my stats in high school were never that good. right now i have a 3.06 gpa and a 1450 SAT score, decent extracurriculars but not amazing. oh, and i just failed two classes. i can't decide whether to go to a community college or cal state :| my dream is to go to a top UC like UCLA or Berkeley and i know community college is the way to do it, but I want that college experience, I just don't know if it's worth it? I'm not trying to downgrade Cal States, I know some of them are great schools, but I don't know. What would you recommend?

i think this is on the wrong forum, sorry

Cal states are actually good schools, they are universities… if I were u I would go to a cal rather than a cc.

It depends if you’re willing to sacrifice 2 years of your college experience in order to maximize your chances of getting into UCLA or Cal. California Community college students receive top priority when trying to gain admittance.

If you truly value your “college experience” though, that’s up to you. You can certainly go to a Cal state because there’s nothing wrong with that. Your chances of going to your dream schools though are greatly diminished. If you ask me, 2 years is a small price to pay to attend institutions like UCLA or Cal. And a great deal of effort must be put into those 2 years. But you know that already.
