about decision dates

i really hope its right because the half tuition would help me out greatly! i guess it makes some sense seeing as most of the people on here have great stats and seem worthy. does gw give out a lot of these merit scholarships?

kiki, i am applying to barnard also. i think its probably my other top choice with gw; i can't wait to hear! :)

I told some people about this and the first thing they said to me is " this isn't another Harvard B-school trick is it?"

Where did you find this website and could we get in trouble for looking here?

It's just a financial aid webpage. They gave us logins and everything. There is no reason to get in trouble for it. It's not hacking. It was made for us.

Constellation-
Good luck with Barnard! I'm interested in GW, but consider it a safety so it's all going to depend on where else I get in, I haven't heard from anywhere else. I don't think we can get in trouble for this; we're not hacking or stealing passwords or doing anything against the rules/illegal.

Kiki

Ok i successfully logged in but i only see 2 Menus with subcategories, Student Records and Rgistration as wlel as a Personal information menu. Where do you see the "Satisfied Requirements"?

hey, for yall with grants or scholarships, is that under matriculated or not matriculated?

I really hope that Banweb is screwing up, because I no longer have "Must be admitted to a degree-granting program" under my Finaid "unsatisfied requirements" nor is it under the Satisified ones either. On the other hand, I also hadn't sent in my parent's complete tax forms, and as of a few days ago that was also listed as Unsatisfied but no longer is listed under either category. Maybe its just screwed up -_-

hmm now mine no longer says anything about the "degree granting program" on the requirements page but it still has the scholarship under award history. oh well i guess we'll just wait and see.

Mine changed too. Maybe they found out kids were able to see if they got in, too, and just pulled them all. Argh.

Unless you can go onto the GW site or look in the paperwork provided to you by GW to find this door into the admissions department records, I would advise that you resist the temptation. It is quite possible that your acceptances will include this link and that legitimate access will be provided at that point but I don't see any evidence that the school intended to provide you with access before making admissions offers. But, what do I know? I'm just a mom.

ugh. You think they'd leave them up as a prize for us figuring it out.

Mine also still has the scholarship but lost the "admitted to a degree program" under the satisfied elements. I told my parents about this, they don't think there's anything wrong with it. We were using our own information to log into a website obviously made for us, I don't see a problem with that. I won't be checking again, but I will be very surprised if anything comes of our looking.

GW gave us the website, told us how to log on and told us to use it to check our financial aid paperwork completion. It is already legitmate access! It's "legitimacy" isn't even an issue. They probably just didn't realize they were accidentally showing students their admissions status and decided to pull it. It's understandable.

I dont think I have anything to worry about because I'm probably rejected :o

Oh, also...

I emailed fin-aid with some questions and mentioned banweb, and they said that it was correct (it was about missing paperwork), so I certainly think we are allowed to have access to it

My mistake, the conversation below made it sound like GW didn't supply the link. My D was not supplied the link by GW but she didn't apply for financial aid so maybe that's why.

Hey i don't know if this relates... but i was just checking my financial aid status for GW at banweb.gwu.edu and there was a requirement that said, "You must be admitted to a degree granting program." It was first under the unsatisfied requirements column a few weeks ago, but last week it suddenly changed to the satisfied requirements column. Does anybody know what this means?

I never knew there was a place we could check if the school had received our financial aid requirements. Did the school send you an email about it.

I've never heard of banweb.gwu.edu either. I tried logging in using the info they said to use but it was invalid. Is the school supposed to tell us about it?

naw.. i just randomly bumped into it while i was looking around gwu.edu
just use your ssn for username, and birthdate for pin.

My daughter was accepted EDI and was able to make housing selections today through the site. All of the financial, scholarship info for her is correct on the site also.

where on the site are you able to check your financial aid awards? is it under the matriculated, not matriculated option place?

Awards are found under the Student Records & Registration Menu by clicking on "Student Financial Assistance Menu" then clicking on "My Award Information" then clicking on "Award History." This should bring up the award history for the 2005-2006 academic year.

i have the 18,200 award thing on my account, too.

ditto. i have it too. hate to sound greedy, but i hope that's not it.
