About dorm.

haven = overrated. lived there for 2 years. location is nice, dining hall is awful.

ok faleene since were going into the 16ths and sh**. i 11/16 african american 3/16 white and 2/16 native american. lol.

and to tinycities......what dorm would u say is the best then??

they're all the same.. bb isn't that bad at all. brockway is definitely the best dining hall on campus and its only a short walk to the quad. same distance as haven really, except with haven you dont deal with stairs. the best dorm is probably watson, but thats upperclassman only.

how about dellplain

yea someone tell me about dellplain cuz i got in interest housing, LIFE so i will live in either dellplain or butterfield.

i wonder how much people are in each living environment.

After living at syracuse for 6 weeks in the summer of 2005, in Booth Hall, I can clearly assess that location. It was nice. they had some very nice 4 person suits. I don't know what the chances are of a freshmen getting in one of those but they are great. Unfortunately, like Dellplaine, you have to walk up a hill. I didnt mind the excercise but if u do good luck with that. Booth was an experience. I'd probably say that you'll have the most bonding time because of the many lounges. Although summer is very different from actual college, Im sure you'll enjoy Booth if you stayed there.

the Mount (Flint/Day) rocks.

butterfield is the old sorority house.

dellplain is fine. they're all fine.

Mount sucks.
I spent the last year in Day, and how horrible it is! All of my friends were in different parts of campus (I never hung out in Day at all), and only 2 or 3 times did I get them to visit me, aside from the occasional time when they had to walk my drunk ass back :p [and yeh - the graveyard is nice, too (you'll learn what it's used for, once you spent a few hours on campus ;-) )

Aside from that, it is a HELLUVA long walk, not only the stairs, but simply getting to and from them. It is constantly windy up there, and when it rains or snows it blows sideways, making an umbrella useless. Graham has decent food, although they could use a bit more of a variety (they definately have the best stirfry bar and pizza, though!)

Furthermore, the Mount has a reputation for being "snobby" and rich. I don't see how this could practically be true, since housing is largely by random, and few people -choose- to live up there. But yes, you will find that people up there do tend to be richer than most other dorms, and they also like to flaunt it just as much. Since people generally just stay to themselves up on the Mount, and don't travel far from there, it tends to be quite cliquey. Goddamn preps.

I'll be living in Sadler next year (aka Party Central (and if it wasn't known as that before, it certainly will be with me and my roommate living there ;-) ), which is still a lot closer to campus than Flint / Day.

...i'm going to be in Day cuz of an LC...:( (Cliques and Preps? nooo) I visited Flint while i was there and didn't like it at all. I figure Day is it's mirror.

what about lawrinson??

oh no faleene youre in an LC which makes the chances of u being my roomate zip zero.

:( ........................

lol @ 10 characters.

I was in Day too, it was pretty bad getting up there, and I went through 3 umbrellas getting broken by the wind up there. Graham is one of the best dining halls though, and there's a tunnel connecting Day and Flint to the dining hall and a bookstore which is awesome during the winter. I agree though, no one from other dorms ever wanted to come all the way up and visit me haha, I didn't spend much time there.

Lawrinson is pretty awesome, except waiting for the elevators which take forever and are often broken. My boyfriend lives there and the biggest problem was the same sex floors so I had to go upstairs or downstairs to get to the bathroom, but that's not too bad lol. The rooms are really nice compared to the other dorms and everyone there seems pretty nice and laidback in general. also with the mount, I noticed more snobby peope too haha, but maybe it's just because I'm aware of the stereotype so I noticed them more.

freshman in dellplain, psht I am wicked jealous of you, Dellplain and Watson are the dorms everyone wants to live in, good sized rooms and great location which is essential when its freezing cold and snowing.

haha i dont get all these comments abt the cliques, etc... theyre crazy! yeah, the steps do suck, but theyre honestly not that bad after you get used to them. (plus its right by the quad!) builds up leg muscle and helps keep off that freshman 15! i'd rather do the steps than have to eat at haven, any day. ;-)

cant wait for SOUTH next year!

wicked jealous.

so anyone know about the number of incoming freshman this year. is there going to be overcrowding again, and what type of people get put into living in the sheraton? <why do people even go to SU to dorm in a hotel anyway? and what are we supposed to do with Kiterunner besides spend time to read it - do we have to write a paper on it or something?

oh yea i got that paper. idk......do we discuss it? have any of yall gotten yall book yet???

and are yall gonna do that little book about the class of 2010??

I did it last year - what a waste of money. Most kids dont bother with it, so not only does it lack a ton of information, but nobody cares about it. I didn't see a single person looking through it, and after the first 5 minutes of having my copy, I haven't looked through it either.
