I received my letter on Friday, it was sent out Wednesday but received no financial aid information. Will it be sent later and soon? Is anyone else in the same boat as me?

What has everyone been receiving? I have 1 other brother, 4 people in my family. My dad is a CPA, my mom a homemaker. We just got an extensive addition on the house (it was very small before) but I don't think that information was sent. So money's a bit tighter than before. We're middle class, I suppose. Does anyone know how much I might receive, an estimate?

What's the average package? My parents are really worried about price. Do ED acceptees get more than RDs?

raging, did you submit the E.D. Application for Financial Aid? The majority of kids received their financial aid packages with their offer of admission but there are usually a few who receive it a bit later. You can call the f/a office to see what your award is. The number is 212-998-4444. Generally, applicants who apply E.D. receive similar f/a awards to R.D. applicants. The average f/a award at NYU has been approximately $17,000 for the past few years. I hope you get good news when you call but it's often less than applicants need at NYU which is why they advise against applying E.D. if f/a is a major consideration for your family. Good luck.

If you sent in the early decison financial aid estimate form then you should have recieved an estimate. Maybe it will be coming shortly. I was worried about the cost of NYU as well, but it looks like my estimated financial aid awards will take care of me. The average package is somewhere around 19000 (that is according to the website -- but alwaysmom is always right so I would belive her. She already proved me wrong once today.), mine was more than that with a combination of grants and scholarships. I can't venture a guess for you though. Since you didn't report the addition to your house on the estimate form, when you turn in the fafsa (or whatever it is called) you might get an even larger package. Good luck, see you next fall!

I did fill out and send in the ED fa form- I just got my estimate in the mail. With scholarships, work-study, and loans it comes to 13 something grand. A lot less than I imagined. I will still go, I am aware that EDers shouldn't apply if cost is an issue, I just still worry about paying it, you know?! I just called the Fin. Aid office and am lobbying for more but the most I can get is 1k more, but we'll see! thanks alwaysamom!
