Are ther anyone living in i-house? how about it?
i am an international student for summer session in UCB. i am considering living in International House (i-house) or Unit2. Are there any photos about double room in i-house? I cannot find any photos about rooms on their website. I have heard that i-house is quite old, is its room very small? i also wonder whether there are many activities in i-house for international student?
how about house offered by co-op (or BSC? somthing? im not sure)? Is it easy to make friends there?

There is at least one photo on the I-House website of a double room, but it makes the room look larger than they are. There are two sizes of double rooms. The regular double is small with a bunk bed, two desks, two dressers, and one closet. The deluxe double has two single beds, two desks, two dressers, and one closet (it is basically just a bit larger than the regular double). The rooms could use a bit of updating, but the bathrooms are all pretty much new and clean. I think for summer you may actually be able to get a single room. There are tons of activities in I-House during the regular year, I don’t know what happens there during summer. It is quite easy to make friends at I-House.

BSC - the student co-op - might already be full for this coming summer, but check with them. It is very easy to make friends in the co-ops - the people are probably the best thing about the co-ops. It is more like independent living since there is no cook, no maid, etc. The people who live in the co-ops sign up for work shifts to take care of the house. I had an issue with bathroom cleanliness in the co-op I where I lived, but otherwise I really liked living there. Not all co-ops have a food budget over the summer, meaning not all co-ops have a daily dinner or anything. But they all have kitchens and space to cook, etc.

how about it in summer? Is internet available in every room??

If I am an international student entering this fall but I will be living in Clark, are there still activities were non-residents like me could participate in to meet other internationals?

Dr. P - yes! Join the International Students Association at Berkeley! They host events quite frequently, and it’s a fantastic way to meet international students. They even have a few parties every semester.

The problem with the I-House is that it hosts tons of exchange students who are only here for a year, whereas international students like yourself wouldn’t typically stay at the I-House.

Check out and join the facebook group here, they will be sending updates through it:
