Apparently, my interviewer asked a person that went before me what ED school she applied to. Is that allowed? I thought that the question wasn't supposed to be asked. Also, as I've heard, the interviewer is very picky or something. If you say something, he would always follow it with a why. I have the interview tommorow. Any thoughts?

I don't know, but I was asked where else I applied, and she wrote the name of the school down on her pad of paper in bold. I wanted to be like NOOO I DONT EVEN WANT TO GO THERE, NOOO! She also did ask me about what I enjoyed, and then asked why a lot- but that makes sense.

I don't know if this will help, but it really isn't bad. I was so nervous beforehand, but the EC was a really nice woman, and it really is just a conversation.

When interviewers ask me where I am applying, I try to say 'several other tech schools with large research programs. Out of those several schools, MIT is my first choice because X, Y and Z' Try to refocus the discussion. However, if she point blank asks, it would probably be better just to tell her. Just make sure to emphasize that you are very interested in MIT.

Please remember that your interviewer does not expect you to be stupid enough to only apply to a university where the majority of qualified applicants get rejected. Don't be afraid to talk about the other colleges you're interested in. I'm sure your love for MIT will come out in many other ways during the interview; however, you probably won't get more than one chance to show the interviewer you do your homework about all your options...
