Hi, I heard from some people that after the first year, we are no longer eligible to live in McGill residences. Is that true?! If so, what is the alternative? I'm an international student with highly limited experience in being on my own so this is a big deal to me!

You are technically eligible, but unlike first year students, you are not guaranteed a place and it highly, highly unlikely that there will be a free space.

The vast, vast majority of students at McGill live off-campus (either at home or sharing a flat/house) after their first year. It’s not something to be afraid of. You won’t really be on your own - you’ll have had a year in residence and more likely than not you will be living with friends that you made the first year over the next three.
