So, it's not necessary to send additional recommendations besides the recommendations from the teachers of these three subjects: english, math, and science, which was the requirment. Does it look good if you do? Would it hurt? Oh, and do the teachers attach their personal recommendation with the document that they have to fill out or do they just fill out the document only and send them in?

And about the letter of assurance. It is possible to still get that, maybe because you took the SAT test on October, and you basically aced it, and your score jumped up so high! just curious.

Not necessary to attach additional recommendations at all. Some people do, I would say that most don't. Who knows if it helps or if they read them - you would have to ask admissions about that.
Keep in mind- the admissions department has been doing this for a long time. They have a pretty good idea of what they are looking for and what works. They get thousands and thousands of applications to read through - I know everyone thinks they are the exception - but they ask for English, math and science for a reason.

I haven't seen the packet this year - my d has it down at MMI. Last year there was a form for each teacher - they were to complete the form and put it in the corresponding envelope and mail it back. There was room on the form for additional comments. As for if your teacher should add something additional see above^^^.

Do NOT worry about getting an LOA. The goal is an appointment. They still may send out some LOA's but will start focusing on the appointments as fall turns into winter. I know you are all anxious but it isn't even October yet. Work on plan B (even with an LOA), work on your nominations and keep your eye on the goal.
I also highly suggest you arrange for a visit. Any candidate can visit for a day - and you will also have a chance to review your package with an admissions officer.

wow! that was a great help! thank you
