I heard that a few applicants, including me, received phone calls from NYU. Well, not directly to the applicants but to their counselors, asking for our Q1 grades. What do you think?

Does this mean that I am on the verge of getting denied?
Does this mean that I am on the borderline?
Does this mean that I am being denied to the admissions?
Does this mean that I am likely to receive the fat acceptance evenlope?

Did any of your daugther/son receive such calls from colleges?

It just means that since most schools have first quarter grades out that NYU would like to see them (not unusual). Take it for what it is apparently you are still in the running who while you have not been accepted, you haven't been rejected eiher. Just let the process play it self out.

Thanks...but this surely scares the **** out of me...

I would not interpret it as "bad" news. Bad news is when your app ends up in the "reject" pile and you don't get far enough to have the committee consider your application.

The first goal is to get in the game. If NYU is calling for your 1st QTR grades, it's a safe bet that you are "in the game".

That's good news.

I guess the bad news is that you aren't in the "auto-admit" pile. But, very few kids have the academic transcript to get into that pile.

kjayson7 - you have posted this question on virtually every relevant and near-relevant board, so we know how keyed up on this you are. Perfectly understandable I might add !

But what you are really asking is, will you get accepted. As interesteddad says, it's good news that you weren't rejected. But no one can know the answer to your real question. You will just have to be patient for just a little while longer. I know it's hard. We've all been there, so we can all sympathize with your anxiety.

But as sybbie said, you'll just have to let the process play itself out. Good luck to you.

No need to apologize - as I said, we've all been there and we all understand how anxious you are to hear the answer. it's worse than when you were a kid waiting for Christmas (if you celebrated), because in this instance you could get the one big present you were waiting for, or you could get disappointed.

But hang in there, and I really wish you the best of luck, and hope you get in. Make sure you tell us!
