About to move in with my grandma... what does this change?

I'm a rising senior. I've been living with my mother and sister this past year, however I will have to be moving in with my grandmother and uncle, who live in CA.

All 5 of us used to live in california, however last year my mother and sister moved to another state. Now, my mother and sister will remain there while I return to CA.

What does this change in the college applications process? Who will fill in my financial aid forms and such? Will it be based off of my mother's income? My grandma has a large house; will that mess with my EFC and chances for good financial aid?

I'm not going to pursue public schools in either state, it just seems too complicated. All I am concerned about is FAFSA, EFC, CSS, private schools, that sort of thing.

Any info will help, this is very confusing. Thanks

It will be your Mom’s (and her spouse if there is one)info for FAFSA. If you apply to any schools requiring CSS they will probably also require your Dad’s (and spouse of there is one) info.

Thank you

So moving in with my grandma will have no effects on financial aid?

If you are making this move assuming you would be instate for CA public colleges I am not sure that is the case. You will need to read the requirements very carefully.

well no lol I said: “I’m not going to pursue public schools in either state, it just seems too complicated. All I am concerned about is FAFSA, EFC, CSS, private schools, that sort of thing.”

The fact that you will be living with grandma is irrelevant for financial aid. Only the parent info is used, no matter what.

ok great thanks
