My goal is to be able to transfer to UC Davis and be accepted to the College of Letters and Science, and my question is if im doing ok and if my extra curriculars are good enough to catch attention as well as extra curriculars I work at least 25hrs a week to support myself. My GPA currently stands at 2.38 but Im retaking 2 classes I failed and Im also taking summer classes as well, with Fall Semester Im optimistic and estimate my GPA will be at least 3.1 to a 3.3 GPA. will that be enough to have me as a competitive candidate?

Forget about your extracurricular work and worry about bringing up that GPA! EC’s don’t matter. You need to absolute retake those 3 F’s and that D. If you can manage to get your GPA to a 3.2 before Fall 2013, you can TAG to UCD and guarantee yourself admissions. A 3.2 is pretty decent for UCD depending on your major.

I calculated your GPA–given that all the courses are 3 units each–and it’s not looking good (It’s probably not accurate). If you can somehow manage to get all A’s this semester and you manage to retake the last D and F and also get A’s, you’re looking at a 3.3. If you end up getting all B’s and this semester and you get B’s for retaking the D and F, you’re still looking at a 2.93. Not the best odds given that you might get B’s this semester. So doing a TAG for UCD might not be feasible. You should try really to get those A’s this semester and then maybe we can be more prudent.

@mermaker its a mix of 3 unit and 4 unit classes. Im retaking the classes I got D’s and F’s this semester my coursework actually looks pretty good except my 2 bad semesters but those are explainable by personal statement. Im going for straight A’s but it’s only possible for like 2 classes (my other professors for those classes are crazy graders, its a miracle im pulling an 85% right now =/) after summer and fall I should be at a high 3.1 to 3.3 (I used the UC official page to calculate my GPA and any variation)

My advice is try to TAG if possible. It’s a lot of hard work that will actually pay off (you get GUARANTEED admission!) GPA is the most important focus on that and nothing else!
