About to turn 22 for fall semester.. Too old to dorm?

So this is a JC that offers Rez halls. They said they can room me with someone my age but… will I be the older weird guy? I only plan tk do this for a year. Just more convenient.

We had 26 year olds in the dorms…among others. I suppose you could ask for an upper-class dorm so the age difference wouldn’t be apparent.

This is a JC with residence hall… there is no upper class dorms really. They just said they can room me on a more mature side…

If they told you that, they must have other students near your age. Don’t worry about this.

Most schools which do not have a residency requirement allow for a semester by semester living option. That means that if you decide you don’t like the dorms, you have the option of moving out the next semester. So try the dorms for a few months, and if they work out, great, stay in them for Spring. If they don’t, that’s also fine.

I will warn you that Weed, CA is very boring unless you absolutely love the outdoors at the exclusion of everything else. However, it may be a good place to buckle down and only focus on school.

I want to get into the outdoor recreation… they have a lot of clubs. I snowboard too. But I look at is as a tranquil scenic place just to focus.

Awesome, then Weed will probably be fine for you. I think a fair number of students from around there end up working in Mt. Shasta during the peak season. That would probably be heaven for an outdoors enthusiast.

I’m just worried about being too old for the dorms. If I get an 18 year old shit head I’m gunna shoot myself.

I dormed at 23. Nobody really knew or cared. If you get a roommate who behaves like an idiot, it won’t be as bad for you because you’re old enough to know how to deal with him/her. The 17/18-year-olds leaving home for the first time may not. It sounds like you’ll be too busy to notice anyway.
