I’m looking into applying to the National College Match this fall but my family is middle class (100k+ for a family of 4 in CA, few assets, no properties beside townhouse). I am a first generation minority student (Hispanic and Asian, bilingual), and meet the academic expectations. Should I apply despite not being low-income, or is there essentially 0% chance for me to become a finalist?
There isn’t a strict income limit. If your family has endured “significant” financial hardship" then apply.
Although questbridge does not have a strict financial cut off, 100k+ for a family of 4 is not near $65,000. The difference in the two amounts is what many questbridge scholars family have as total income.
I am sorry, questbridge is for low-income students and it does not sound like you qualify.
There are other resources like the hispanic scholarship fund, National hispanic recognition program that are merit-based.
$65,000 is not a hard cut-off but the average income is approx $35,000. The application is insane and a lot of work for something you most likely have no chance at getting.
