Absolutely OT - Superbowl hopes

I am really, really hoping to see an Atlanta - New England Superbowl.

Not that I care so much about the teams, but watching Philadelphia choking again would be so sweet. As far as the Steelers go, I have missed watching the facial expressions of Cowher when his teams loses. It is priceless. Too bad that Dame Fortune has been so much of his side this year, especially last week.

Do I have to tell that my biased post shows that I really do not like the Steelers and the Eagles? My most ardent wish would be to see them both lose with a last second field goal. ;)

I am a HUGE Eagles fan and am wearing my GO BIRDS shirt as we speak. THIS IS THE YEAR!!!!! Donovan is THE MAN.

Sports Illustrated had a great article on Cowher's mug. Knew him and his family personally when I was in Pittsburgh as his girls were in some music programs with my kids. He is very much a family man. I am secretly rooting for Steelers here as it is not a popular pick in this area!

E-A-G-L-E-S! We just have to win this year. After the last two years of hoping, hoping and then losing, ughh, I don't think I can take it again. My husband, a seasons ticket holder, is planning to leave at 7 am to take our sleigh....I mean suv...down to the game. They say the wind chill factor will make it feel like minus five degees in the stands. brrrr.

All the other teams look too good, I'd hate to win tomorrow and then blow it in the superbowl.

Well, Xiggi, it's nice to know what you want. Thanks for sharing ;)

I just watched your Falcons arrive in Phila on the news. Welcome to your first game at the Linc! This frozen winter wonderland might be a little rough for the boys from Hotlanta! Hasn't Philadelphia won the last three games against ATL? Hmmmm...and when was the last time ATL won a playoff anyway?

I don't know all the records as well as some might. But, I will actively participate in any crap talking that takes place from here on!

Fly Eagles, Fly!!

I'm completely neutral on the teams. But I am very much looking forward to the Super Bowl halftime show--my beloved Paul McCartney will be performing. We can only hope for a wardrobe malfunction. (Then again, maybe not. I'm still living in the 60s. Meanwhile, Paul is actually 60!)

Hmmmm...and when was the last time ATL won a playoff anyway?

Good one, Momsdream! I do not know much about Atlanta, except that they were in the Super Bowl in 1999. Obviously, they cannot match the series of great victories accumulated by the Beagles in January. For your pleasure, I listed the stellar playoff record for the month of January. Forgive the length of the post, but I had to scroll down to the prehistoric 1981 to find Philly doing well in January. Better warm up that chunky soup! :)

Well, well Xiggi. I believe you are trying to take advantage of the fact that I said I don't know the records as well as some. Your post is innacurate. How could you leave out the last time the Falcons met the Eagles for a playoff game----- in JANUARY 2003.

Here is the headline from that day:
"The Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl dreams are smashed by the Philadelphia Eagles, 20-6"

Xiggi, I won't even bother to do more research to see what other JANUARY tidbits you conveniently left out. I think we can agree that your posts on this topic are highly suspect.

Anyting else?

Obviously, I'm rooting for the New England Patriots.

With a Philly daughter, I would be happy to root for the Iggles in the NFC. But, she doesn't seem to adopted her new team, so I'm hoping for a Patriots/Falcons SuperBowl.

Why? Because Belichick's defense would make mincemeat of the Falcons running back, Michael Vick.

In all honesty, I don't think the Falcons have a chance against the Iggles in snowy Phila. Atlanta is out their league compared to the other three teams left standing.

Good move Idad... taking on the Eagles with your D in front of you, as a shield ;)

At least we've had plenty of playoff practice. I guess that counts for something.

Vick was shown to the Phila viewing audience as being hostile. He shoved a microphone away while walking in Phila today ....which is being shown repeatedly to the Eagles fans. People are pretty fired up. I really think my neighbor is going crazy as he has been blaring that song- whatever it is- the one from Animal House, I think. Does anyone know what that song (if you can call it a song) is called? Anyway, my neighbor has been playing the song and shouting the lyrics, which are only the word "HEY!"......and his SUV is full of flags......but he's been this loyal year in and year out (good or bad), so this is his moment.

Seriously, what is that son called? Not knowing is bothering me.

"Louie, Louie"?

jamimom-I don't think so....unless Louie Louie breaks into a slower paced chant at any point. This is going to bug me.

Steelers all the way.

newt: you are awesome!

Steelers will rob the Patriots of a victory, especially because they are the underdogs.....I don't even understand how the Steelers can be the underdogs because they BEAT the Patriots as VISITORS.....The Steelers are 9-0 at home, and after tomorrow, 10-0..:-)

As a die-hard Eagles fan and a Philadelphia native (now in Texas), I would hate to be the Eagles if they lose tomorrow in front of 60000 fans with snowballs!! But- moot point since they will not lose. (and I'm grateful the Cowboys are tucked away for the season)

Goof point MomofWildChild! I hadn't thought about the snowballs (snicker).

Anyhow, the song is called "The Hey Song" - which is exactly what I used to google it...lol. http://jwpepper.com/ram/2436681.ram It is not from Animal House. Where did I get that idea? Hmmm

I'm with Momsdream, Kathiep, MomOfWildChild and everyone else who is rooting for the Eagles.
Go Eagles!!!!!

(it's my son's adopted team too)..

Momsdream-
Isn't it called "Shout" (a little bit softer now... a little bit softer now.. A LITTLE BIT LOUDER NOW...). And I share this with you despite the fact that you are rooting for the wrong team. And Interesteddad, Michael Vick is Atlanta's QB, not running back.

The song "shout" is by Lloyd Williams, but "played" by the supposed group Otis Day and the Knights.

jym626-

Nope, not Shout. It's called "Hey Song"....literally.
