Hey there all you Bruins!!!! Nice to see you all here. I will also be attending UCLA in the Fall (wooooooooooo-hoooooo!!!). Is anyone doing the AAP this summer?

what is AAP, care to explain

Well, at one of the orientations that I attended, AAP was introduced to me. It is through AAP that we get to take certain classes over the summer (we are able to reciever up to 10 units of credits towards our degree). It begins August 1st and ends Sept. 19, 2005. They have a wesite. Just go to the ucla homepage, in the search box, type in AAP and you should see something pop up.

AAP is the academic advancment program. It is the nation's most successful rentention program and one of hte first of its kind. The president of AAP is Alfred Herrera and the program itself pretty much a place where you can get help on all aspects of school i.e. tutoring, personal advice, etc. I think what bluerose is referring to is the summer program which is a six week program where you enroll in actual UCLA courses before the fall quarter. These classes do count but the purpose of taking these courses is geared toward getting you acclimated to campus life i.e. how to register for classes, where things are located, and you get to meet people and make friends before the quarter begins. I know there is a waitlist for this program which begins sometime in july and ends in august. UCLA should have sent you a brochure explaining this program it is also covered in your orientation packet which should have also been mailed to all new applicants by now. Try to see if you can learn more by visiting UCLA's homepage under new bruins after clicking on the undergraduate admissions link.

Thanks mexbruin :) In addition, a number that you may find helpful is 310-206-1571. This is the number to the Summer Programs Office. They are usually open from 10am to 6pm. Hope this helped.

i got into the summer program.....with housing and everything...and i had to cancel it cuz it was too expensive :(

I haven't received anything from UCLA in the mail except for little yellow reminder cards about housing...no packets, nothing.

Hey,
I received the same small card, but if you have any questions, be sure to contact the Housing Office. Be sure not to wait until the last minute. The card is pretty much to remind you on your payment. Be sure to have all the materials necessary (ID#, Housing Dorm, etc) before you call that way you can make it easier for both you and a housing advisor. Good luck :)
