academic appeal letter review

I have just got a withdraw letter from my college. This is my second withdraw. There were lots of things happend to me and my family. This appeal is the only chance for me to explain everything to school. If anyone can give me a advice, that would be nice.
The cut-off line is 2 and my GPA is 1.9 and I am an international student.

Dear Dr. XXX

My name is XXX and I am in my X year in the XXX. I have received a letter dated May 20th 2016 requiring me to withdraw due to an unsatisfactory GPA. I would like to appeal that decision.
I understand poor academic performance is completely my responsibility. I do not mean to make any excuse but I would like to explain the circumstances. In March, I changed me major. My original major, XXX, is requiring North American culture understanding. I thought longer I lived in Canada, better I can handle these courses. However, I am wrong. Besides, my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer and gallstone in March. I grew up with my grandfather and I am very close to him. I worry about him so much and was very distracted by this. These affected me more than I expected. I finally got an average GPA 1.9 for this year.
To improve my academic performance, I have already changed my major into XXX. Last year, I have got B- in XXX courses which are required course for XXX. I have confidence that I can do much better in my new major. Also, I will decrease the course load to ensure my performance if my appeal is granted. From my academic failure, I finally understand that quality is more important than quantity. I will talk to the professors as long as I feel I meet difficulties to catch up the lectures. I will use more resources on campus, such as XXX. I believe the workshops they provide will be very helpful to my academic life. Fortunately, my grandfather has got surgery and been permitted to leave hospital in April. So I can focus more on my study and not be distracted.
I would like to urge the university can give me a last chance to continue my study under academic probation. I can prove that I can do better than this year. I love XXX University and this is always my dream school since my high school.
Thank you in advance for consideration in this matter.

Sincerely
XXX
