Academic Appeals/Academic Suspensions ..

( If someone can take the time to read this and inbox me for further help - that would be amazing! )

I am currently a student at Louisburg College - a small, two year school, where I’ll hopefully getting my associates in May of 2019. I am supposed to be returning in the fall for my second year, but I believe I am at risk of academic suspension! When I first started I was placed on academic warning in January, the policy of my school is to have a 1.75 by the end of the first semester. I received a 1.688. I was away from that goal by a few points. I was placed on academic warning. Now, I picked my grades up for spring semester. I even had a woman from the Academic Life tell me I was on the right track, but at the end of the second semester (spring), I am supposed to have a 1.85. I have a 1.839.

My problem is that I believe, because I was on a warning fall semester, I will be academically suspended until the spring of 2019. My school policy reads that, if you were on warning the previous semester and receive another - you will be suspended. I will not know if I will be suspended until the school sends warnings via email and such out by Monday. It is highly likely though.

I do have the right to appeal, but how do appeals work? What are my chances of being allowed into school for the fall? I would need some help by someone who has been through this process. I am a little uneasy and worried, any advice and help will go a long ways!

I would think that you would always have the right to appeal. But why? The college has set a pretty low bar to avoid probation / suspension and still you failed to meet it.

You need to readdress what you want to do A term or year away might be just the thing for you. Get a job and see what the “real world” is really like. You may be motivated to go back to school but with a real sense of purpose and a willingness to put the effort in that it requires. I’ve known several people who have done just that and were quite successful after being away from school for a while.
