I'll be attending U. Nebraska next year, and I'm debating over what housing I should select. Some time ago, I sent in my housing application, and was accepted into the Business Learning Community. Today I was selected as a "Justin Smith Morrill Scholar". It's based on academics, leadership, and community service. The scholar program, is a program offered to a select few, and these people are to live together in a community, in the east campus, which is like 5-10min away from the main campus. They do leadership acativities, and do a lot of community service, which I really enjoy. My problem is that it's on the other campus, which I'd imagine to be socially dead. The dorm also, isn't as nice. Should I agree to attend the scholar program?

We don't know you -- what you like to do in your spare time, your sociability, what you're looking to do when you go away to college, and so on. So I think you can see why it would be hard for us to recommend where YOU should live.

Here's my advice: no need to write essays on this site describing yourself. Just arrange for a campus visit. Stop by and talk with people in the community and see if you'd be comfortable there.

Does your school have a message board for prospective/incoming students to ask questions to upperclassmen? It might be worth searching for to get the inside scoop. Like mikemac said, we don't know you.

Im from Nebraska and most of my friends are going to UN Lincoln. The dorms at nebraska are fairly balanced also nothing is to far away from anything on campus but when it gets below zero your still going to want to be as close to your classes as possible. If it were me Id go with a social dorm because trust me your friends will be your main source of entertainment in nebraska when its not football season (im going to asu and i will be coming home for many home games in lincoln).
