academic environment

I asked this question in the W&L v. Davidson thread, but noone has responded.

I'm interested in knowing what the academic life/work load is like at W&L. Is it a "grind" school like Davidson is considered to be, or if you work hard, can you do well? Specifically, how are the intro math and science courses? Is it possible to get an A without sacrificing all social life? How do you consider the grading (realistic, inflated, deflated, etc.)?

Thanks!

let's put it this way a B or C at W&L would easily be an A at any state school and many other top universities, so yes the academics are very hard, but most here are able to balance their workload with their social life pretty well, which makes W&L refreshingly different from other top universities
