Academic Index

Hey everyone,
I'm considering applying to Dartmouth ED, so I read a book called A is for Admission by an old admissions rep from Dartmouth, and she devoted almost an entire chapter to the "Academic Index". I went online and calculated my AI and was very pleased with the results, an 8 out of 9 and a 227.5 out of 230, but then I read that Dartmouth no longer uses the AI, is this correct?

No one really knows the current value of the AI, but the book was written 10 years ago, and I think it’s fair to say that admissions have gotten much more competitive over the last 10 years. It’s likely that AI does not hold nearly as much weight as it used to.

I am somewhat interested in reading this book. I’m debating ordering the brand new edition that is due out in September 09, but I cannot seem to find out from the publisher, Amazon, or the author’s website whether the 2009 edition is updated and revised with new material about the last few year’s admissions cycles, or whether it is merely a re-issue of the 1999 edition? Anyone know whether it is worth springing for the new release, or should I just check out the old edition from the public library? Thx, Ms. L

@Ms. Ladybug- From what I understand, Dr. Hernandez is updating the book to make it more current. So yes, expect updated statistics, the SAT out of 2400, etc.
