I was reading "A is for Admission" and came across acceptance rates for the class of 2000 by academic number (1-9).

Academic 9: 94%
Academic 8: 92%
Academic 7: 76%

I am very sure these numbers are now out of date, but I'm curious if anyone has any idea what the present numbers look like. I'm an "8" according to CC's AI, so does that mean about 75% chance or so? Even that sounds too high. If anyone has any links / ideas regarding these numbers I'd be interested in checking them out. Thanks!!

I was an AI 8, too, and I got in...so try and look up my posts or PM me if you think I can help you...^_^

im pretty sure the AI isn't a very good indicator any more

If CCer's opinions are right, if you are unhooked and get in with anything below an 8, it's a fluke.

The AI probably doesn't mean as much as it used to, but Dartmouth does still use it right? It seems like even top schools need some kind of objective rating system.

dartmouth does still use the AI and those acceptance rates are generally right but it really depends on what your EC score is so like 9/9, 9/8, 9/7, 8/9, 8/8, 8/7 are generally all accepted but there isn't a way to determine your EC score exactly but that's basically how it is used.

Wow, that definitely makes me feel a little less hopeless, even with crappy SATs (according to CC standards, of course). Thanks Infrommaine4.
