what does it mean when a disciplinary action is put on your "permanent record"? do colleges ever see this record? i don't see a place on the common app where you would send this in but i think it might come with the secondary school report. does anyone know?

Colleges will never receive a document that discloses your disciplinary record. However, there is a field for both you and your guidance counselor on the common app that asks if you've ever been suspended. It's up to you and your counselor whether to report if you have or haven't, because this is the only time the question is asked, and colleges will only receive an academic transcript.

thanks, i've never been suspended or anything like that
i received a 0 on an assignment due to some form of cheating and my teacher said it would be on my record

do counselors see this record? if not, then my counselor would not know about the incident and that'd be cool

if it was on a homework assignment, I doubt it, but tests, definitely, unless you persuade your teacher somehow

Colleges ask if a student as committed an academic or behavioral misdemeanor that resulted in suspension, etc. If you just got a zero then it won't be reported to colleges because nothing else became of it.

so what exactly is your permanent record and who sees it? i imagine its like a folder with your name on it and all your information kept in the principal's office

anyone know?
