I know Vandy has very tough entrance requirements for any student, but hypothetically if a high schooler is being recruited as a baseball player (or wants to be!) , what are the MINIMUM requirements he would need to stand a chance? would it matter if he was going for a scholarship or not? Does it make a difference vs. the overall student population or not? I’m just looking for the reality of the situation.
The standards won’t be relaxed as much as they are for football or basketball players but top baseball recruits definitely get a break. As baseball is Vandy’s most successful sport they will get a bigger break than at other colleges. I’m not sure about minimums but I would guess one should be safe with a B-average and SAT scores in the mid 500s. I’m basing this on guys from my HS who got recruited to schools like Vanderbilt. At any school there will be more leeway for a top recruit on a scholarship vs. a preferred walk-on.
