<p>Hey, I was wondering how common non-need based scholarships are, and some of the different qualifications for them. Have you heard of students getting a full-ride (or a big %)? Does it effect your chances if you are from out of state???</p>
<p>The numbers are low for the overall merit scholarships, I think 7-10% receive one. The specifics are listed online as to how they're awarded. I don't think there's anything that's truly a full ride, as I don't think any of them include room/board, but only a percentage of tuition. I know one person who rec'd one of the major scholarships. He was from KY and is the same person who won the Jeopardy college tournament a few years ago. He's now in grad school at MIT. Good Luck!</p>
