Academic versions of software

can you buy them thru UA?

is there a good discount?

The Supestore sells versions of popular software IIRC, but with her .edu e-mail address, your D should be able to buy the software from online sources at the educational pricing, which is often a significant discount.

Can always email a copy of the student ID to qualify for academic. DSs have been doing it for years for their different music/art software. a c a d e mi c super sto r e . c om has been a great source.

There are HUGE discounts on software via campus stores; when I was a grad student I bought one of of the Adobe suites (including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.) for $300 when it was retailing for $1200+.

I haven’t looked into UA’s prices yet (since D will be getting the NMF laptop & I’m figuring it will be loaded with whatever software she needs) but prices vary from school to school based on contracts with the various software vendors. For example, Vanderbilt just announced last week that they’d negotiated a new contract & Microsoft products would be free to students and faculty/staff could get a home license for $9.95. That’s exceptionally low; UTK offered the Microsoft Office package for students at $59.99.
