Does Bama offer a software discount to students?

My D wants to buy Microsoft Word for Mac to put on her new MacBook Pro. Does Bama offer this at a discounted Price? I think it’s $119 from the Apple Store.

Inside the SUPE store there is an Apple Store, check there, you can always call.

See if your employer (or a family member’s employer) participates in the MS Home Use Program

We got my S Office for $10 through my spouse’s workplace.

We went through the same thing a few months ago. I called the Supe store and was told that they used to offer a student discount(UAB still does). Bama discontinued it a while back. The best deal we could find was $99 directly from Microsoft. It was called OfficeMac. It has Word, Excel and Powerpoint. That price was the student discount and you have to have an “edu” email address. Of course, once you are accepted to Bama, your Crimson Email is an “edu”. My child used that one and it worked. Search for OfficeMac Student discount and you should find it.

Recently bought my son Microsoft Office University 2010 at Office Depot for $100, need an edu address (which they all have) to use it. The regular version is much more (I think the “sales” guy said $600ish??)
It has Word, Excel, Power Point, One Note, Outlook, Publisher and Access on it

Students can get Office:Mac 2011 directly from Microsoft for $99.99.
CrimsonMom - were you able to load that version onto two computers? D has a laptop and a desktop and I want something she can use on both. Microsoft customer service said the one you order from them can be used on two computers; I’m wondering if the ones you buy elsewhere can as well.

@ beth’s mom, I don’t know, it’s still in the box

S will only have a laptop so that won’t be a concern here…sorry I don’t know the answer to help others on CC ;)

Microsoft office licenses have in the past have been able to use on 3 computers. Microsoft now sells some licenses that are only good one computer, particularly ones that come preinstalled on new computers.

Edit: After taking a closer look at Microsoft’s license terms, Microsoft Office can be installed on 2 computers.

Thanks Sea_Tide!

If any current or admitted student is still looking to buy Microsoft Office 2010 for windows or 2011 for MAC then PM me and I’ll tell you how to get it for less than $10 through a perfectly legal loophole on the Microsoft website.
