Hey guys, I got this Academics at a glance brochure the other day and I'm wondering what it means. Just another NYU info packet, or possibly a hint at something more?
Thanks.

I got one too.
I’m hoping it means something more but it’s probably just another packet.

Hi, I think it is more a PR and “advertising” strategy for NYU, as well as many other schools who send out informational materials to prospective candidates. The only significance is that some of the student lists generated for these distributed materials may have been generated by some qualifications singled out say from PSAT scores or College Board self-response categories, e.g., GPA, class ranking, etc.

My son received materials from NYU (maybe because he had opted to send some earlier standardized scores to them). I know that Washington U. of St. Louis was very aggressive in sending mailings and invited my son to a Candidate’s weekend that really did not correlate directly with final admissions decision.

I think we’re just wondering because it came after the application was sent in and after my audition.
At least that’s why I kind of though about it.

Yeah, it came in after all my admissions material had been sent it, so that’s why I’m curious about it. But the thing about aggressive advertising makes sense. I probably just want to make this into a bigger deal than it actually is.

Sorry, now that you mentioned it, I’m not sure if my son received his NYU materials before his application was submitted (maybe both before and after). He definitely got some materials AFTER he had completed his NYU application. In his case, he did get in. However, I still feel it is more of a continuous ploy to keep the school in the focus of the school applicants since they want you to want them and choose them if you are admitted.

don’t read anything into getting marketing materials from any school…at any point in your application process…except if you get an email from NYU to “save the date” for a Saturday in April…that one in the spring comes out to accepted students a week before the decisions are sent.

Is there a similar “save the date” email sent out to ED applicants?

I don’t think ED students get any “save the date” or anything…you just have to wait. I also don’t think the Academics At a Glance means anything, I’ve heard of RD people getting invitations to accepted student events before their decisions come out, but I don’t think us ED people get any of that :(
