Academics at Wash U

How hard are classes? Is it hard to maintain a good GPA??

bschool preschool haha

@toplel Does that imply Olin does not have a rigorous curriculum?

@toplel I was wondering about BME specifically
@crimsonwarrior there is a stereotype that the business students have it easier than students in other fields of study, hence the saying bschool preschool, however I am not sure how true that is…

@GloriaDoe Hmm that’s interesting, usually business schools within a college have lower average GPAs because of their difficulty. I wonder what makes WUSTL different?

@crimsonwarrior it could be like the University of texas, where the business school has the easiest classes in the university

Business classes are not easy. WashU has a big percentage of premeds and has an engineering school When you compare premed and engineering classes to business classes in any school not just WashU there will be a difference. But business kids take classes outside of Olin. My daughter is in Olin and takes math and comp sci classes in arts and science school.

My D says the three hardest majors are premed, engineering and architecture at WashU. Howevever that doesn’t mean business is easy. It just means premed, engineering and architecture are extremely difficult and many drop out. Obviously not everyone can do it.

“Bschool Preschool” is the saying used by many washu students usually emphasizing the easiness of the b school in comparison to science and engineering fields. Not to say b school is really easy but comparatively it is.

and to the person wondering about bme, bme is a very hard major. As a freshmen you will take a class called bme 140 and it is bad… really bad

The school is challenging, but not too hard. Some classes were easy to get As in, others were hard. It just all depends.
