Business courses, how are they?

I'm an incoming freshman in the business school and I just wanna know to expect in most if the business classes in terms of difficulty. I know washu us best known for premed and business and I've heard the premed classes are big on weeding out the weak. Are the business courses also like that?

Accounting can be very hard at times.
Classes like introduction to Business are really easy.
I heard Marketing Courses were easy, I haven’t taken one though.
I’m sure you’d have to take Statistics, a very easy class, much easier than intermediate algebra.
Economics classes can be easy or very tough, kind of depends on the professor.

I wish you the best of luck in your business classes…I heard that overall, most of them are pretty easy, but accounting and possibly some form of Calculus will be your toughest courses.

thanks for replying. I’m not looking at an accounting major, but yeah I heard accounting and finance are the toughest.

Also for econ, I hear there’s two types: one in business and another in artsci. How do the two compare?

Business econ = joke
Artsci econ = actual econ

Edit: Business most things = joke

This is a bit irrelevant to the op’s question, so my apologies. But is it an actual possibility to double major in bme and marketing in olin and do well without sacrificing a social life completely?

^Yes. 10 char

I’m also going to Olin this fall and I plan to major in accounting. I didn’t take econ in high school… is that a big deal? do you think I should read an AP book of some sort so I at least have a small amount of knowledge, because right now I know pretty much nothing.

^No…10 char.

Don’t know if it will add any perspective to this thread, but just know that the B-school is colloquially called the “pre-school.”

(Not saying that B-school kids aren’t really smart and/or working really hard, but most of the classes are not known to be especially challenging.)

Even if you aren’t majoring in Accounting, I’m sure you may be required to take Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting for your core classes, or if it’s anything like my school, in pre-major before you’re admitted to the business major.

Econ classes are not as bad, but I’ve only taken Macroeconomics so far. The material was easy, the tests may be a bit confusing at times if you have a tendency to choke on tests like most people, including myself.

I don’t know what the difference is between the 2 since both cover business topics, Art/sci econ just doesn’t go into as much depth about business as Business Econ. would.

^Yeah, I’m taking financial accounting now in the summer to get a taste. So far I like it but idk if I’ll major in accounting. Based on the general courseload, everyone takes a lot of the same classes and they’re from all the areas in business (marketing, finance, etc.)
