After reading alot about bard im slightly confused to how harsh and rigorous the academics are,
for example to do a course you have to go through the ‘moderation’ process - i mean it all seems quite a bit intimidating and pretty terrifying

So my question, is Bard extremely competitive and academically harsh?

Bard is not harsh but it is demanding. Bard expects its students to dig deep and bring out their best. And the student must prove their case to a board of professors that they are ready to moderate into a major. It’s a bit like grad school at the undergrad level. And it’s not just an empty exercise and a rubber stamp. There is also the Senior Project, where again, a lot is expected of the students. Can a student slack off and get through? I’m sure it’s possible, as it is everywhere, at least in some of the majors. But a student who goes for it and gives it their all - for them, Bard makes it worth it.

Does the prospect of that terrify you? If so, maybe Bard is not the right place. But if instead it excites you, then…
