I go to Boston College, and am a freshman. I'm a pre-med student, and feel that the science classes here are just not worth paying 50,000 a year for. The science labs are all taught by TAs who cannot speak English, and have no idea what they're doing. My Biology class is taught by a new professor, who has to go to the textbook anyone asks him any type of simple question. I think that BC's humanities are very good, but their sciences are not so great. My question is, would academics be a legitimate reason for wanting to transfer? I really like CALS, from what I've read and seen, and think that their classes would be much better fitted for me. And opinions?

Of course academic rigor (or lack of) is a legitimate reason to transfer :). However, if this is your first semester, and your only complaint is the Bio course (pretty much all labs are conducted by TAs), you may want to stick it out and see how some of the other professors are. Further, if you're not a science major, that could help lessen the blow.

If you are a science major, and you still don't believe you're getting your money's worth, then it's certainly worth a look around.

Best of luck.
