The book “The Last Blue Mile” by Kim Ponders might be of interest to some of the 2012 candidates. It is a fictional account of a female cadet during her 4* year. The Author is not a graduate of the Academy, but has written a solid story that describes the many challenges ahead.

Let me also suggest these Books by Grads, some of which are about life at the Academy.

PETKO good list. I would caution the young prospects regarding two of the books though. Kelly Flinn's book "Proud to Be" has some insight into cadet life, but also deals heavily with her sexual experiences. These ultimately ended her Air Force career, and some (I) believe exposed some character flaws. Read with caution.

The second is Riechen Lemkuhl's book. Again this was written by a graduate with an axe to grind. There are many glimspes of cadet life (most already discussed on this board), but they are countered by his sexual agenda. be very carefull and discuss this book with parents before reading.

Absolutely American is one of the better books about Academy life. It is about West Point, but the is a lot that can be learned.

ds brings up some excellent points. Be sure to consider the authors in the above cases. Feel free to consult the wiki for more info.

Jason Elam Denver Broncos has just published a book with an Academy grad for the football players out there. Monday Night Jihad

After a tour of duty in Afghanistan, Riley Covington is living his dream as a professional linebacker when he comes face-to-face with a radical terrorist group on his own home turf. Drawn into the nightmare around him, Riley returns to his former life as a member of a special ops team that crosses oceans in an attempt to stop the escalating attacks. But time is running out, and it soon becomes apparent that the terrorists are on the verge of achieving their goal: to strike at the very heart of America.
